The device is a generator with a housing (4) and a rotor (8) as force -carrying structural parts and is connected using conventional gear connection technology by a membrane (3) to the flywheel (2) and via a journal to the crankshaft (1) of the internal combustion engine. The moving element formed by the rotor is centrally supported by a single bearing (12) so that the supporting force on the journal connected to the crankshaft is reduced and/or eliminated at the center of gravity.
