Bis(beta-hydroxyethyl) terephthalate which is wet with volatile liquid medium is recovered dry by heating and fusing the wet solid to a molten mass preferably at a temperature not above 180‹ C. and evaporating the volatile liquid medium from the melt. The boiling point of the volatile liquid medium at normal pressure is preferably not lower than 40‹ C. but is lower than that of ethylene glycol. The process may be conducted in a flow of inert gas. Many examples are given. |
