摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light control device that can improve performance, image quality, and reliability by smoothly raising alignment change of liquid crystal molecules or relaxation thereof and shortening a response time of light transmissivity and its driving method, and an imaging apparatus. SOLUTION: This light control device has a liquid crystal element and a pulse control part for varying transmissivity to light emitted by the liquid crystal display element from the current light transmissivity to a target light transmissivity, and is so constituted that before the pulse control part supplies a driving pulse corresponding to the target light transmissivity, a 1st control driving pulse with driving energy smaller than driving energy corresponding to minimum or maximum light transmissivity and a 2nd control driving pulse with driving energy larger than the driving energy corresponding to the maximum or maximum light transmissivity are previously inserted in this order.
