In an electrical load measuring apparatus in which an upright load receiving member 16 is maintained in spaced parallel relationship with upright frame member 11 by flexure strips 20, 21 and 25 all the strain gauges 29, 30, 31, 32 are mounted on flexure strip 25. The strain gauges are connected in a Wheatstone bridge to provide an output linearly proportional to the amount of deflection of flexure strip 25 under applied loads. Screwed adjusting rods 33, 34 enable one or both ends of mounting bar 14 secured to frame 11 and to which flexure strips 20, 21 are clamped to be finely raised or lowered to reduce the sensitivity of the apparatus to loads applied off centre with respect to load receiving member 16.
