<p>In a papermaking process a fibrous paper web (1) is drawn through a dewatering nip gap sandwiched between two dewatering felt belts (2, 3) and two drums (4, 5). The web has less surface adhesion with respect the second belt (2) than to the first (3). After leaving the nip gap the second belt diverges from the first. The greater adhesion to the first belt is generated by lesser surface roughness than the second belt, produced by the use of finer fibres on that side of the first belt (3) in contact with the wet web. The difference in fibre size is at least one dtex grade. The second belt (20) remains in contact with the lower drum by a distance of about 30 mm greater than the upper belt.</p> |
