The system has a messaging server (9) in connection with a notification agent (20) connected to a notification system (21), for sending notification information via a computer network (10) e.g. Internet, to a terminal (3) e.g. personal computer. The terminal receives messages from a terminal (2). The terminal (3) has a standby agent (31) for activating distribution of the messages in response to the information. An independent claim is also included for a process of transmitting electronic messages between multiple terminals in a computer network.
