A grating for filter materials consists of a series of parallel profiles (sections), each of a rectangular S shape, meshing with one another and all laid at the same level on two perpendicular ends supports, each of channel-section. The width of each upward flange is cut back to be less than that of the central vertical flange, while in the transverse support members one of the flanges is correspondingly cranked to fit into the underside of one part of the section and around the other part. Pref. the upward, shortened flanges are located mid-way between the downwardly oriented flanges and the vertical web of the adjacent section. The sections pref. mesh or interlock with the downward flange of one between the upward flange of the next and the vertical web. A simple arrangement of components which, when assembled together, provide an optimum ratio between the plan area of the grating and the flow cross-section through the grating. PS. |
