Dogs for gripping and turning tubes in tube cold rolling mills run continuously so that higher espeeds, up to more than 200 double turns per minute, can be achieved. A circular housing has a shaft passing through it that contains two spring-loaded rollers, which bear on the inside surface of the housing; and, at their other ends, have dogs for gripping the tube to be turned. The inside surface of the housing is slightly oval and, when the rollers pass over this portion (twice per revolution of the shaft), the tube is gripped and turned with the shaft. By using a different combination of rollers, it is possible to make only one turn of the tube per revolution of the shaft.
|
