The present invention relates to a method for covalently coupling haptenic radicals to fibres or natural or synthetic yarns to allow fibres, yarns, fabrics and non-wovens to be traced back. Coupling of the tracer substance to these materials can be carried out either directly or through a linking bridge. <??>A further objective of the invention is constituted by labelled fibres or yarns as originating from such a procedure. <??>A still further scope of the invention is a method for revealing tracer substances coupled to fibres and, as a consequence, to yarns, fabrics and non-wovens as performed by means of immunochemical methods.
