PURPOSE: A microwave oven and an automatic cooking time compensation method thereof are provided to compensate for errors in cooking to the utmost by coding the influence degree on the cooking level by stages and reflecting the degree in increase and decrease compensation cooking. CONSTITUTION: A microwave oven driving the load of a magnetron(37), a heater(38), and the like to cook food comprises a key operation part(31) for input of various cooking control keys; a control part(33) deciding a code constant obtained by coding the influence degree on the automatic cooking level in automatic cooking time increase and decrease compensation selection through the key operation part, and a cooking time control rate constant by stages when time control is possible, and minimizing influence on the cooking level by a time change through automatic cooking time increase and decrease compensation; and a display part(35) executing various displays by the control of the control part.
