PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pipe fitting structure capable of preventing its seal material protecting member from making dislocation outward in the radial direction relative to a lock ring even if a slipout force in the pipe axial direction acts on the seal material protecting member. SOLUTION: The pipe fitting structure is configured so that a seal material pressure contact surface 5 and a lock ring accommodation groove 7 are formed inside a socket 2 from its open side, the lock ring 20 in a ring shape is accommodated in the lock ring accommodation groove 7, a spigot 4 is inserted into the socket 2, and between the seal material pressure contact surface 5 and the periphery of the spigot 4, a seal material 11 is installed in the compressed condition, and that a back-up ring 10 to come into contact with the seal material 11 and the lock ring 20 is installed at the periphery of the spigot 4 between the seal material 11 and the lock ring 20. In this pipe fitting structure, the end 10a on the lock ring 20 side of the back-up ring 10 is restricted about the position outward in the radial direction by the side face 20a on the socket opening side of the lock ring 20.
