A method for forming a molded garment (70) is provided. The method includes positioning an assembly of material (50) between a first heated mold element (20) and a second heated mold element (30), moving the first and second heat ed mold elements (20, 30) in relation to one another to laminate the assembly o f material (50) into a laminated assembly (60); moving a third heated mold element (40) through the first heated mold element (20) into contact with th e laminated assembly (60) so that the third heated mold element (40) shapes a portion of the laminated assembly (60); and causing the first and second heated mold elements (20, 30) to trim fabric from the laminated assembly (60 ) to define the molded garment (70).
