PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cell which prevents productivity from decreasing and an appearance defect from arising during a process for inserting/mounting an insulation ring when the insulation ring is used to avoid a short circuit between positive and negative electrodes, and can avoid the short circuit easily. SOLUTION: The alkaline cell comprises a positive electrode can 1 being a cylinder with a bottom and serving as a positive terminal, a positive mixture 2 in the shape of a hollow cylinder located in the positive electrode can, a gelled zinc negative electrode 4 with which a hollow part of the positive mixture is filled via a separator 3 in the shape of a cylinder with a bottom, a negative collector rod 5 inserted into the gelled zinc negative electrode, and a metal sealing plate 8 forming a negative electrode terminal connected with the negative collector rod electrically. An insulation ring 9 is located between the metal sealing plate 8 forming the negative electrode terminal and the positive electrode can 1, and the insulation ring 9 forms a projecting part inside a member having a cylindrical part and a flange part expanding from an end of the cylindrical part into a direction orthogonal to the axis of the cylindrical part.
