PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recognize a sucking operation below a fixed volume even if a film or bubbles exist on a sample or a reagent, to remove an analysis result other than an expected value, and to contribute to a stable analysis result, by solving problems wherein, when the film or bubbles exist on the liquid surface in a sample or reagent container, there is a probability wherein not the true liquid level but the film or bubbles are detected, and dispensation is performed without the arrival of the probe tip to the liquid surface, namely, not the liquid reagent but the bubble reagent is dispensed, and finally the analysis result other than the expected value is outputted. SOLUTION: This automatic analyzer has a function for recognizing whether a fixed quantity of the sample or the reagent is sucked or not, by sucking air of a plurality of kinds of specific quantities before sample suction operation, calculating a threshold at the air sucking time from a correlation value between a plurality of kinds of sucking pressures, and comparing the threshold with a pressure value during the suction operation or comparing the threshold with a pressure value after the suction operation, and for preventing output of data other than the expected value of the analysis result resulting from failure of sucking the expected quantity.
