PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrophilic fluororesin particle having improved wetting characteristics on the surface without deteriorating chemical stability, low frictional properties, weather resistance, etc., essentially possessed by a fluororesin and without adversely affecting post-processes or molded products and useful as an electroless plating additive, a coating filler, a pigment, a lubricant, etc., and to provide a method for producing the hydrophilic fluororesin particle with which the hydrophilic fluororesin particle can industrially readily be obtained. SOLUTION: The hydrophilic fluororesin particle is obtained by coating the surface of a fluororesin particle with a nonionic surfactant having an ethyleneoxy group or a propyleneoxy group and≤10 HLB in which a hydrophobic group is a hydrocarbon group. The method for producing the hydrophilic fluororesin particle is carried out as follows. The fluororesin particle is dipped in an aqueous solution of the nonionic surfactant having the ethyleneoxy group or propyleneoxy group and≤10 HLB in which the hydrophobic group is the hydrocarbon group.
