The building and insulation slab consists of a mixture of straw and extruded cereal material, and its surfaces can be lined. The ratio of straw to extrudate is variable according to area of application and can be between 10 to 90 and 90 to 10 percent volume. The straw used may be rye and wheat straw. Maize, rye and wheat may be used to produce the cereal extrudate and can be mixed with waterproofing agent. The surface lining consists preferably of paper or cardboard with a layer thickness of 0.1 to 2 mm.
