<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a print setting device which has a good user interface in terms of the operability and the visibility even when a display space to users is limited, and to provide a printing apparatus with the device. <P>SOLUTION: The print setting device 2 which has an operating means 21 for setting printing conditions, a display means 22 for displaying items of the printing conditions and set printing conditions, and control means 17 and 23 for setting the printing conditions on the basis of the operation at the operating means 21 and also controlling the display at the display means 22 is equipped with a first mode and a second mode. In the first mode, items of the printing conditions which can be set by the user of the print setting device 2 with the use of the operating means 21 are limited to preliminarily set setting possible items, while the printing conditions are set beforehand for setting impossible items that cannot be set by the user.
