PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable and highly accurate turning angle detector for correcting a mechanical error in a gear or an electrical error in an absolute turning angle detection part without calculating/transmitting an anomalous steering-wheel turning angle by detecting anomaly such as gear disengagement, as to a turning angle detector for a multi-turn steering wheel used in a vehicle body control system, etc. for an automobile. SOLUTION: This turning angle detector comprises a motor 15 for turning a rotary shaft 7 under inspection and a nonvolatile memory 11. The nonvolatile memory 11 causes a signal for turning the motor 15 by a prescribed angle to be transmitted from a motor controller 14 by using the motor controller 14 for controlling the turning angle of the motor 15, and is stored with, as a correction angle, a difference between an absolute turning angle calculated from absolute turning angle detection parts 4 and 5 and a prescribed absolute turning angle of the motor 15. A means is provided for modifying the calculated absolute turning angle of the rotary shaft 7 by using the correction angle. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
