PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the thinning of a rotation detecting device such as a rotary encoder fitted with an operating knob. SOLUTION: The rotation detecting device is provided with a rotation detecting part (21) generating a rotation signal in accordance with a rotation operation and the rotating knob (22) for operating the rotation detecting part (21). The rotation detecting part (21) is provided with a claw (252) engaged with the operating knob (22) and an elastically deforming part (251) for elastically oscillating the claw (252), and the operating knob (22) is provided with a recessed part (281) engaged with the claw (252). By engaging the claw (252) with the recessed part (281) by the elastic oscillation of the claw (252) with the elastically deforming part (251), the operating knob (22) is mounted on the rotation detecting part (21).
