PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press machine which is easy to handle and can avoid interference without fail. SOLUTION: The press machine is structured so as to be able to stop a slide 17 by stopping rotation of a motor 30 in the following cases respectively: (1) when the designated point (the front end 131F) of a workpiece 131 is not confirmed to have reached a designated point even though a tip of a gage pin 18 is judged to have reached a designated access point Ha of a setting pin tip during descending of the slide, (2) when a workpiece forward sending device 100 is not confirmed to be in a workpiece gripper open state even though the tip of the gage pin 18 is judged to have reached an insert point Hb of the setting pin tip during descending of the slide, and (3) when the workpiece forward sending device 100 is not confirmed to be in a workpiece gripping state even though the tip of the gage pin 18 is judged to have reached the insert point Hb of the setting pin tip during ascending of the slide.
