PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device of which starting time dispersion of flux of light can be suppressed even if starting characteristic of the flux of the light is dispersed. SOLUTION: The control circuit 6 of the discharge lamp lighting device is equipped with an electric power target memorizing portion 11 which memorizes electric power target value being corresponded to a lapse time from the lighting of the discharge lamp La, a reference lamp voltage memorizing portion 14 which memorizes reference lamp voltage target value being corresponded to the lapse time from the lighting, an electric power target value controlling portion 16 which outputs corrected electric power target value counted using a voltage detected with a voltage detecting portion 4 and the voltage target value read from the reference lamp voltage memorizing portion 14, and an error amplifier 13 which controls output of DC-DC converter 1 so that electric power supplied to the discharge lamp La is maintained at the corrected electric power target value.
