PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head position detection method which can precisely position a head by precisely detecting a servo burst signal, which relate to the head position detection method and the disk device detecting the servo signal according to a area servo system and to provide a disk device. SOLUTION: In the head position detection method, the servo signal written on the disk in advance is read by the head, the servo signal read by the head is integrated for the part corresponding to a prescribed number of zero cross points, and the position of the head on the disk is detected on the basis of the integrated value. The zero cross point of the servo signal is detected, the zero cross point is counted, and the time from the start of the detection of the zero cross point of the servo signal is measured. The integration operation of the servo signal is stopped, when the measured time is equal to or more than a prescribed time that is shorter than the time since the counting of the zero cross point of the servo signal is started until a specified count value is counted and when the zero cross points of the prescribed number are detected.
