A fuel treatment device (10) for supplying hydrogen-rich gas to a fuel cell body (20), wherein when the supply of raw fuel is stopped, purge treatment is performed by flowing steam as purge gas in the normal direction and flowing air in the reverse direction. By the purge treatment, residual gas in the device can be purged.
