<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a random number generation circuit which is compact and can generate random numbers at a high speed of over several Gbit/s with low power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: Two negative resistance elements like tunnel diodes which have uniform properties are connected in series, and determination of output ("1" or "0") is made using fluctuation of the maximum current by heat noise, and high-speed generation of random number is carried out by using the high-speed switching characteristic of a resonance tunnel diode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
