PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus equipped with a fixing device having an auxiliary means (separation claw) for transfer material exfoliation, the auxiliary means having a remarkably prolonged period until the auxiliary means stops its functions in the fixing device due to accumulation of toner and paper powder and having stable separation performance over a long period of time. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is characterized in that the fixing device has a fixing member which pressurizes and heats an unfixed toner image and the auxiliary means which exfoliates the transfer material from the fixing member and the auxiliary means is supported rotatably by the rotary shaft of the auxiliary means.
