PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filaggrin synthesis promoter having promoting actions on synthesis of filaggrin which is a supply source of a humectant source present in a horny layer and effective in essentially improving moisture retention functions of the horny layer. SOLUTION: The fillagrin synthesis promoter comprises one or two or more kinds of compounds selected from the group consisting of poly-γ-glutamic acid, its derivative and a salt thereof as an active ingredient.
