PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing rod having improved torsional rigidity in throw operation with both hands. SOLUTION: This fishing rod is equipped with a reel seat body 12 which is fitted to and mounted on the rear part of a rod 10 made of a fiber-reinforced resin, has a reel placing part 12S, integrally formed from a synthetic resin and mounted on the rod, a reel fixation apparatus having a pair of hoods F1 and F2 and a rear grip part RG which is separated backward from the back end of the reel seat body and has length to be gripped by one hand. The rod at least reaching from the middle position of the reel seat main body to the middle position of the rear grip part RG has a layer KSS in which reinforcing fibers are oriented in the inclination direction to the axial direction of the rod.
