<p>The invention relates to a device (D) which is dedicated to controlling polarisation in an optical fibre (F) with optical signals passing therethrough. The inventive device (D) comprises: (i) first (1) and second (2) polarisation controllers which are installed in series on an end part (E) of the optical fibre (F), each controller having a variable orientation axis and a variable birefringence; (ii) a sensor (3) which is installed on the fibre (F) downstream of the first (1) and second (2) controllers and which delivers primary signals that are representative of the polarisation of the optical signals; and (iii) processing means (4) which use the primary signal delivered by the sensor (3) and at least one primary signal previously delivered in order to (a) determine an orientation axis set value and a birefringence set value for each of the first (1) and second (2) controllers, the aforementioned set values being used together to maximise the value of the primary signal, and, subsequently, (b) transmit secondary signals that are representative of said set values to the first (1) and second (2) controllers such that they can set same.</p> |
