<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which is easy to operate for a user sitting on a wheelchair or a user having a handicap in a right upper limb without making its constitution large and complicated. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 10 is constituted of an image forming apparatus main body 20 and an automatic document feeder (ADF) 30, and the ADF 30 is provided to be freely opened/closed around a 1st hinge shaft 41. A 2nd hinge mechanism is provided on the left side of the main body 20, and the ADF 30 can rotate by 90° in a horizontal plane around a 2nd hinge shaft 42. By grasping a knob 52 and depressing a switch 51, the ADF 30 and the main body 20 are hinge-coupled around the shaft 42, and also their hinge-coupling around the shaft 41 is released, whereby the ADF 30 can rotate by 90° around the shaft 42.
