PURPOSE: To provide an apparatus for treating garbage, which minimizes moisture content or volume of the garbage through an automatic crushing, feeding and heat-treating process and recycles the treated garbage as a feed or a manure. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a garbage storage tank (10) which stores inputted garbage and includes a plurality of level detection sensors (SW1,SW2) detecting the low-level and the full-level, an outlet (12) and an automatic switch automatically switching on and off the outlet in response to detection signals of the sensors, a garbage crushing tank (20) that crushes the garbage supplied from the storage tank for a certain period of time, a feed screw conveyor (30) that is installed on the side portion of the crushing tank to feed the crushed garbage, a garbage heating and drying tank (40) which includes a level control sensor (SW4) to receive the garbage through the feed screw conveyor, a heating burner (42) to heat and dry the garbage, and a drying screw (48) that is rotated by the operation of a motor (44), and a discharge part (50) that is installed at a lower part of the rear side of the garbage heating and drying tank and includes a mesh to filter fine particles from the dried garbage, the fine particles being not more than a predetermined size.
