<p>A panel type speaker comprising an exciter including a bimorph type beam of piezoelectric material for exciting a bending vibration and a part for holding the beam, and a diaphragm coupled with the exciter to generate a bending vibration based on a vibration being transmitted from the exciter and also serving as the transparent protective plate of a display. Bottom face of the beam holding part has an area not smaller than a quarter of the beam area, and it is secured to the diaphragm. The panel type speaker has a high excitation efficiency and a simple structure, and an acoustic characteristics regulating mechanism can be attached easily thereto.</p>
