<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently remove nitrate nitrogen contained in ground water at a low cost. <P>SOLUTION: The subject water purifying underground dam 1 is obtained by providing a water purification body 2 having denitrification action and also having water permeability and gas permeability on the top of a cut-off wall 4 embedded in the foundation 3. The cut-off wall 4 is composed of a soil cement column strip wall. The water purification body 2 is composed by solidifying a flowable mixture obtained by mixing hydraulic material-containing alkaline sludge, sulfur, and sulfur oxidizing bacteria before the solidification of the alkaline sludge, and the mixing ratio between the alkaline sludge and sulfur is, e.g., controlled, by weight, to 50 to 90: 50 to 10. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
