PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device capable of reducing power consumption and extending service life of a discharge lamp, regardless of type of the discharge lamp to be used. SOLUTION: The discharge lamp lighting device comprises an inverter IV for converting direct current power supply voltage into high frequency power by turning on/off switching devices Q2, Q3 with oscillation output signals of an IV control integrated circuit IC2, one discharge lamp LA among a plurality of discharge lamps LA which are lighted with the high frequency power from the inverter IV, can be mounted on a same fixture, and have different lamp voltages to a same lamp current, and a feedback circuit FB having reference setting means for setting a reference value, for generating a voltage for controlling the oscillation frequency of the IV control integrated circuit so that the power of the plurality of discharge lamps can be approximated to the reference value.
