PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide optical fiber splicing technique by which end faces of optical fibers to be connected are accurately spliced. SOLUTION: A ferrule 31 is provided with a sleeve 32 into which an optical fiber 35 is to be inserted, and a hole 31a that is made on the top surface of the sleeve 32. While adhesive is applied onto the side surface of a coated optical fiber 35c from which a cover is removed, the optical fibers are inserted from both ends of the ferrule 31 while adjustment is made by observing the end face 35 of the optical fiber from the hole 31a.
