<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an average queue length updating calculation system having a good response to a packet discarding system of a packet exchange unit for switching the packet between an input port and an output port or particularly a packet discarding system using an average queue length as conditions which determine a discarding action. <P>SOLUTION: An average queue length calculation system uses a weight changed to the degree of the updating calculation of the average queue length, and resets this weight if the weight reaches a specified value. Thus, even if a long time passes from an average queue length monitor, the average queue length calculation system can prevent the weight from becoming extreme value so that the response is worsened to the change of the queue length, and can improve the response even to the abrupt queue length change immediately after the monitor. The predetermined proportion of the specified value is used as the initial value of the reset weight. Thus, when the weight is reset, it is possible to prevent the average queue length from being unnecessarily swung due to the excessive sensitive response. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
