<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus in which a sheet subjected to image forming can be discharged, as it is, when an unreasonable postprocessing exceeding the postprocessing capacity is requested, and a postprocessing means can be protected against an unreasonable postprocessing request. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises a means 14 being operated to select sheet type/weight information D1 and a postprocessing mode, units 10Y, 10M, 10C and 10K for forming an image on a sheet of desired thickness selected by the operating means 14, a means O for postprocessing a sheet on which an image is formed by the image forming units 10Y, 10M, 10C and 10K, and a control means 15 for calculating the number of sheets to be post-processed based on the postprocessing node and the sheet type/weight information selected by the operating means 14, comparing the number of sheets to be post-processed with the number of sheets being transferred from the image forming apparatus body 101 to a postprocessing means 70 and making a decision whether the postprocessing mode is performed or not based on the comparison results. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
