<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IC card and a merchandise purchase transaction system which can provide the owner of the IC card with the merits of using the IC card in merchandise purchase transactions, etc. <P>SOLUTION: The IC card for use as a transaction medium for merchandise purchase transactions has an expected purchase merchandise information EF (elementary file) that can be set after the IC card is issued. Purchased merchandise information sent from the outside during the process of merchandise purchase transaction is collated with pieces of expected purchase merchandise information set in the EF.
