<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser beam dull-machining apparatus and a machining method with which a high precise projecting pattern is formed on the surface of a roll for rolling metal. <P>SOLUTION: In the apparatus for machining the roll, with which the fine recessing and projecting pattern is formed on the surface of the rolling roll while shifting a machining head to the rotated rolling roll in the roll axial direction by using a laser beam oscillator, this apparatus for machining the roll and its method are performed, with which after coating paste obtained by melting metal powder on the roll surface with uniform thickness, or while spraying a fixed quantity of metal powder near the machining surface of the roll, the fine projecting shape is formed on the roll surface by irradiating the surface with the pulse laser beam. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
