<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer ink ribbon for making printed matter with a high security in which it is not easily recognized that a fluorescent image is printed, the printed matter for authentication on which the fluorescent image is printed by using the ink ribbon, and a method for inspecting the printed matter for authentication. <P>SOLUTION: The thermal transfer ink ribbon R1 provided with a belt-like substrate 1 for the thermal transfer ink ribbon, the first ink layer 21 comprising a fluorescent coloring material 3 emitting the first visible light excited by the first exciting light in the longitudinal direction of the belt-like substrate of this thermal transfer ink ribbon, and the second ink layer 22 comprising a fluorescent coloring material 4 emitting the second visible light excited by the first or the second exciting light, is formed.
