PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording device which can select either an environmental state detection means or a management table and confirm working temperature/humidity of the ink jet printer in printing at any time comparatively simply according to use environment to carry out the recovery of a recording head at an appropriate interval, preventing print interruption due to an unnecessary recovery action. SOLUTION: The ink jet recording device has a transfer means 2 to transfer a recording medium 12 and a printing head (recording head) 3 for each color to perform print recording of the recording medium 12 to be transferred. The device is characterized in having a temperature sensor 101 and a humidity sensor 102 as the environmental state detection means and a recovery interval table 201 as the management table, selectively setting each of them, and having a control means to control the interval of the recovery action to be performed during printing based on the setting result.
