PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain gradation characteristics of a low gradation section without the disappearance of error diffusion data diffusing into a vertical direction even when part of subfields are subject to interlace scanning. SOLUTION: The diffusion range of error diffusion processing is specified to≥2 liners in a vertical direction and the error diffusion coefficients used in odd lines and even lines is alternated at every n times (n is an integer of≥1) of the period when the interlace scanning makes its round and further, the diffusion place of the error diffusion coefficients used in the odd lines and even lines are alternated within the same lines at every 2n times one period of the interlace scanning, respectively.
