The rotary vane pump (1) or compressor comprises a casing (3), two inlets and two outlets, and a rotor, with an inlet and an outlet alternating in the direction of rotation. Inlet air before entering the pump passes through a respective inlet pre-chamber (45) and outlet air passes through a respective outlet post-chamber. The inlet pre-chambers are installed on one side of the pump and the outlet post-chambers on a second side. The connections for the air feed between the two pump sides and the pump inlets and outlets is through at least one flow bridge (4,5) consisting of two air feed channels.
