PURPOSE: A substrate and a display device combining with the same are provided to have a test member mounted on a substrate for discriminating normal operations of switching devices. CONSTITUTION: The test member(18) is arranged along a lower edge of a matrix(6) of pixels. The test member includes plural sensing amplifiers(15) having inputs connected to row electrodes, respectively. The sensing amplifiers is controlled by a control signal from a timing and control circuit(2). The outputs of the sensing amplifiers are provided to an A/D(Analog-Digital) conversion block(16). The outputs of the A/D conversion block are connected to a read-out shift register(17). The serial output data converted by the read-out shift register are provided to an output line(19). The test member(18) obtains information on capacitances of data lines(S1,S2).
