PURPOSE: Provided are a coating composition whose color is changed according to the amount of light and which is applied to metallic, plastic or cubic materials, prevents the oxidation of metallic materials and shows chemical resistance and water fastness, and its coating method. CONSTITUTION: The coating composition comprises 100 parts by weight of a resin composition; 5-20 parts by weight of an organic solvent mixture comprising chloroform, methyl chloride and methylethylketone in a ratio of 1-4 : 1-4 : 3-5 by weight; 0.05-0.5 parts by weight of a photochromic compound; 0.001-0.003 parts by weight of a UV absorbent; 0.002-0.006 parts by weight of an antioxidant; 0.003-0.006 parts by weight of a UV stabilizer; and 0-5 parts by weight of a wetting agent whose content is determined by the Washburn formula.
