SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SYNCHRONIZING TIME BETWEEN MULTIMEDIA CONTENTS AND SEGMENT METADATA RECEIVED THROUGH DIFFERENT TRANSFER CHANNEL

PURPOSE: A system and a method for synchronizing time between multimedia contents and segment metadata received through a different transfer channel are provided to synchronize the time between the multimedia contents and the segment metadata by setting time information and operating time information. CONSTITUTION: A contents player(325) receives/stores the contents including the first segment time information. A metadata processor(310) receives/stores the segment metadata including the second segment time information for the contents. A synchronizer(320) extracts the segment time information from the metadata processor, determines each reference time point from the first/second segment time information, corrects a relative time point of the contents by using a difference between the determined reference times, and synchronizes the contents with metadata by using the corrected relative time point. A contents segment browser(305) transfers a contents segment request signal of a user to the synchronizer and plays the synchronized segments of the synchronized contents.
