PURPOSE: An IPS(In-Plane Switching) mode LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to solve the problems such as mis-alignment and reduction of an aperture ratio when bonding lower and upper substrates. CONSTITUTION: A lower substrate(110) and an upper substrate(100) are faced with each other with a predetermined distance. A gate line(111) and a data line(114) are formed on the lower substrate lengthwise and cross-wise and define a pixel region. A TFT(Thin Film Transistor) is formed at a portion crossed with the gate line and the data line. A storage lower electrode(114d) surrounds the outside surface of the pixel region. A pixel electrode(114c) is extended from a drain electrode(114b) of the TFT and formed at the pixel region longitudinally. An interfacial insulating layer is formed on the entire surface of the lower substrate including the TFT. A common electrode(116a) is formed on an upper portion of the storage lower electrode and between the pixel electrodes. A common line(116b) is connected with the common electrode and formed on an upper portion of the gate line.
