PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide martensitic stainless steel for an electromagnetic component which is used for a component requiring both of high strength and excellent magnetic properties. SOLUTION: The martensitic stainless steel for a high strength electromagnetic component contains, by weight, 0.15 to 0.45% C, 1.50 to 3.00% Si,≤1.00% Mn, 9.0 to 14.0% Cr,≤1.50% Mo, and one or more kinds of metals selected from 0.020 to 1.00% Al, 0.020 to 0.150% S, 0.010 to 0.150% Se, 0.01 to 0.30% Bi, 0.01 to 0.30% Pb, 0.01 to 0.30% Te and 0.0200 to 0.2000% N, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurity elements, wherein the ratio of retained austenite after quenching and tempering treatment is≤10%.
