<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition for babies or infants, comprising nutrient materials and a supplement. <P>SOLUTION: The food composition for the babies or the infants comprises one or more of the nutrient materials and the supplement, wherein the composition contains nervonic acid, its functional derivative, or a direct biochemical precursor of the nervonic acid or the functional derivative as the supplement in a physiologically acceptable form. It is found to be beneficial to administer the composition to premature babies, term babies, and the infants. Further, it is found to be beneficial to administer the nervonic acid, the functional derivative, or the direct biochemical precursor of the nervonic acid or of the functional derivative to an adult having a normal level of the nervonic acid in adult's body, especially, to a woman who intends to become pregnant, a pregnant woman, or a lactating woman. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
