<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine, using a system, a method and a computer readable medium, whether a gesture of a particular electronic pen with respect to a pen-based computing system should be processed as a "press and hold" gesture (for example, the operation of clicking a right button of a mouse is started). <P>SOLUTION: Such a method comprises the steps of: (a) measuring two different parameters associated with pen interaction or orientation with respect to a digitizer during a pen down event; and (b) determining, whether the pen down event constitutes the press and hold gesture, at least in part, on the measured parameters. Dependent on the circumstances, when the system and method cannot immediately determine whether the press and hold gesture is intended, measurement can be made again (as many times as required or until timeout occurs). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
