PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a reduced size of a device as a whole by reducing the number of air suction pumps when ink is supplied, and that of ink suction pumps in maintenance, . SOLUTION: Four tubes 28 of an ink supply unit connected to a sub ink tank 14 of a recording head unit 16, and a tube 40 connected to a cap member 38 of a recording head 12, are combined together into one tube 36. A common pump 32 is provided on the downstream side of the tube 36 confluence part, and a discharged ink tank 50 where air and ink sucked through the tube 36 are discharged is arranged. Valves 52Y, 52M, 52C, 52B, and 42 are provided in the tubes 28 and the tube 40, respectively. Supply of ink of a necessary color, or ink suction in maintenance is easily carried out by opening the valve for supplying the ink, or the valve for sucking the ink, and by driving the common pump 32.
